Softball Teams Hammer Harper

The Lady Panthers soundly defeated the Harper Lady Horns, 20-2, on April 13.

Callie Culton pitched the three inning game with seven strike-outs, one walk, and two hits.

The Blanco squad jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first inning on a bunt single by Leslie McClinton, a single past the second baseman by Callie Culton, and singles by Angel Williams and Meaghen Seales.

The Panthers added six more runs in the second inning, increasing their lead to 12-2. Abbie Culton and Mackenzie Johnson each smacked hard-hit singles up the middle. Callie retired the Harper side with three strike-outs.

In the third inning, Mackenzie and Leslie each swiped a double. With a 20-2 lead, the game ended under the 15-run rule.

Leslie batted 3 for 3 with two singles, a double, a walk, three runs, and four RBI. Angel went 2 for 3 with two singles, two runs, and three RBI. Mackenzie scored three runs and five RBI on a single and a double.

The junior varsity team also downed the Lady Horns, 13-1. Payton Savarino pitched for the Panthers, tossing four strike-outs, four walks, and only one hit. Abbie Culton hit two singles to score two RBI and two runs. Katherine Biggs hit a sacrifice fly and two RBI. Kendall Taylor hit two single, two RBI, and had two runs. Jamie McClinton and Lexee Jenkins each hit a single and made one RBI. Kasie Dowdy added a RBI and Kari Graham and Olma Gallegos each leveled a single.

The Panthers wrapped up their district season on April 17 against Comfort after press time. The play-off bound varsity team will travel to Georgetown Eastview for a warm-up game on Friday, April 20.
