First, a belated but nonetheless heartfelt Happy Birthday to Dot Warrington.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dot Miller's family as well. She was an amazing woman, whose quilting skills, among many other things, were truly enviable. She asked me once to go with her to a quilting guild meeting – I was unable to and have kicked myself frequently ever since. There are so many creative, talented quilters here in Blanco County, of whom Dot was one. I wish I could round them all up and get them to teach me how to at least sew one patch!
I am, however, learning about having a bottle-raised baby goat as yard art – she is about two months old and fights the dogs to get into the house. I guess she was raised as sort of a house pet before I got her, and she certainly is determined. If you sit down, she leaps in your lap, and she isn't tiny any more. She has grown enough that she can't fit through the slats on the porch (she gets stuck with her belly), so she is learning to stay in the yard, but she really hates it. I guess she thinks of herself as a dog, not a goat, as she cries if she can't ride in the truck in the back with the dogs, and there are not a lot of things much more pathetic than a crying baby goat.
Judy and Bobby Brewer are very proud of their son Glenn Malone, who was accepted at the University of Houston, where he will earn his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology. I-O psychologists specialize in scientific research involving employees' workplace settings and organizations. He plans on specializing in quality of life for employees and positive organizational climates. Glenn will be moving to Houston this fall. Congratulations, Glenn!
There are so many things around the area to do over the next few weeks, so take some time and get out and do something you have wanted to try but never gotten around to – more and more, I am coming to realize how much we need to seize the moment and make every one of them count! Plus, the weather is wonderful – I wish it could stay just this way every year!
And a big hello to Ada Cooley and Leona and TD Smylie.
