The Expansion
Blanco Church of Christ

Bob Hope, after looking over a list of his activities said, "If I had my life to live over, I wouldn't have time." Life is often very busy. It's good to know that there are something's that are eternal, something's that are really good investments.

After His life on earth and His death and resurrection the scriptures say that Jesus, "presented Himself alive, after His suffering, by many convincing proofs" (Acts 1:3). These men, the apostles, certainly conducted themselves as convinced men. Jesus then ascended into heaven before their very eyes. Jesus lived, suffered and died, was resurrected, and then begin to reign on the throne as King. This was all part of the plan. The Kingdom of God would not begin until the King took His appointed place. Acts one describes the ascension (1:9-11) and Peter explains in Acts two that king David of the old testament had been promised that one of his descendants would sit upon his throne (Acts 2:29-36). This promise of a new eternal King was fulfilled in the ascension of the Lord Jesus.

The outline for the book of Acts and thus the expansion of the spiritual kingdom of God, the church, is found in Acts 1:8 where the apostles are told, "but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." God's plan for expansion includes you; come and learn how you to be inducted into this Kingdom - if you have the time for something that will last.
