The Blanco FFA Chapter recently competed in two competitions at the annual Texas State University Career Development Events held in San Marcos and New Braunfels. Overall this year, more than 200 schools and 1,500 contestants competed in the various events.

The local FFA chapter did very well, taking home two 1st place banners. The Livestock Team consisting of Alex Gustafson, Kellam Nabers, Logan Dodd, Tyler Hardin, Callie Culton, Ed Alvarado, Joanna Delavan, and Sam Isenberg won the largest event at this year’s invitational, with Alex also placing 1st individually, while Kellam, Logan and Tyler each placed in the top 20 overall at 4th, 18th, and 20th respectively.

In the land competition, Skylar Itz, Mackenzie Johnson, Megan Andrews, Britton Wagner, Mike Gonzales, Morgan Lowak, Brittany Holder, and Elise Edmondson also finished on top, with Skylar taking high individual honors with Mackenzie, Megan, Britton, and Mike placing 3rd, 5th, 10th, and 11th respectively.

Blanco was the only school to win two events at this year’s Texas State Invitational.

Advisors for the Blanco FFA are Felice and Jason Marek.
