"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). Jesus saw us in great danger and stepped forward to lay down His life for us. Do you realize what a friend you have in Jesus? Even though He is the Son of God, He humbled Himself and came to our world to deliver us from spiritual death and give us eternal life. He is a friend who understands our struggles and weaknesses. Someone has said, "The best mirror is a old friend." Jesus is like that. In Him we see what we truly are and what we truly need.

Jesus said, "You are My friends, if you do what I command you" (John 15:14). Due to His sacrifice of love on our behalf, we automatically find ourselves in His debt. Our natural response should be to say, "Whatever you want me to do, that I will do." Willing to follow Him anywhere. Willing to be His friend, as He has been ours.
