Our Summer Reading program starts this Friday, June 1st and will run through August 10th. This is a two part program, one part reading and one part fun activities. We have two levels of reading: kids ages 8 and under will receive prizes for every 5 books read and kids ages 9-18 will receive prizes for every 5 hours read. Our fun activities will be every Friday in June and July starting at 10:30 a.m. and will generally run for 45 minutes except for June 15th when we watch a movie. This year’s theme is Get a Clue at Your Library!

The Blanco Library is working on a calendar for fundraising and we want your help! We are asking for pictures from you that captures Blanco. Is there a special patch of field that you love? Is there a Fourth of July Parade picture that is your favorite? Share them with us! Please email your submissions to blancotxlibrary@gmail.com or bring them into the library. If there are any people in the picture, please include name(s) and a way to contact the people so we can ask for their permission to publish their picture. Be sure to also give us your contact information so that we can let you know if your picture was chosen. You may get to see your picture and name in our calendar this next year!

Calling all local businesses, we are asking for your help too! We are including ads for local businesses in our calendar to help promote our community. If you are interested in having your business featured in the Blanco Library’s calendar, please contact Dave Lageman at 830-275-0575.

We are accepting submissions for pictures and ads until July 1st, 2012.
