Wednesday, June 13, 2012 • Posted June 14, 2012

Wyatt Eugene Trainer passed away on June 10, 2012 in Boerne, Texas. He was born in Blanco to Goldwin and Laura Etta Trainer on August 20, 1916. He was a graduate of Blanco High School and attended Southwest Texas State and the University of Texas.

Wyatt worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance for 36 years, and he loved to tell about his many adventures traveling across Texas while settling insurance claims. His favorite story was about spending months in Texas City after the disaster. He had an amazing memory, and could recall every detail.

His memory also served him well when he was asked to chronicle the early days of Blanco. Since his ancestors were some of the first to settle Blanco and he grew up there, he had a lot of history to share. His recollections and anecdotes are recorded on two DVD’s, which are available at the Blanco Library.

Wyatt was often described as a “fine gentleman”, and was admired for his generosity and readiness to help anyone who needed it. After retiring, he spent his time in the garden that he loved and with his family.

Wyatt is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 70 years, Bertha Novotny Trainer and his sisters, Ruby and Earlene. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Smith and her husband, Richard, son, Gary Trainer, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00, Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Blanco.
