Mary Kathryn Green, 82 of Blanco, TX and formerly of Clarksdale, MS, went to meet her Lord on June 4, 2012 at the Live Oak Medical Center. She had been a resident of the Center for the last five years.

Visitation services where held on Monday, June 11, 2012 at the National Funeral Home from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Funeral services where held at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

She was a member of the Clarksdale Baptist Church, Clarksdale Home Demonstration with Coahoma County Extension Services and was a den mother for all her children in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. She was known most of her life as the “Cake Lady” as she made birthday and wedding cakes for many. She was a substitute teacher at Friars Point school when her children were attending there.

Mary Kathryn was a “stay at home” mom and was always there for her kids and husband. She lived most of the 64 years she had with her husband “Gene”, on the farm plantation that he managed at King and Anderson. She had a love for her home and family. She loved having a garden, cooking, having all her children’s friends over to stay for days at a time. Everyone called her and her husband, mama and papa Green. It was not unusual for her to go to bed with seven of us in the house and wake up to fifteen at the breakfast table.

She believed in prayer, “I love you’s”, forgiveness and you better be dressed and ready for Sunday school and church whenever those church doors where open.

We pray for the day that they find a cure for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. She also battled Breast Cancer twice earlier in her fifties. She was one tough lady. God had big plans for her and His plan is so perfect and we are so grateful for the wonderful years we had with our mom.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey Eugene Green of Blanco, TX, her daughter, Deborah Dworaczyk (Wayne) of Blanco, TX; four sons, Dennis E. Green (Lisa) of Hayti, MO, Harvey C. Green of Madison, MS, Gary B. Green (Lynn) of Lorimor, IO, and Rodney Alan Green of Gulfport, MS. She leaves a sister, Judy Jones Byars of Batesville, MS and a brother, A. J. “Bubba” Jones of Clarksdale, MS. Mrs. Green is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Thursday, June 14, 2012 @ 6:30 pm at the Live Oak Nursing Home, Blanco, TX.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Heart To Heart Hospice Foundation of Texas, Live Oak Medical Center of Blanco, TX or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
