Fire, EMS Seek to Add Volunteers to Their Ranks
Wednesday, June 27, 2012 • Posted June 28, 2012 • Updated June 28, 2012 1:15 PM

The Blanco Volunteer Fire Department and Blanco EMS are both seeking volunteers to join their respective organizations.

“It’s your house, your home,” said Assistant Fire Chief Lynn Hicks, pointing out that volunteers with the two organizations help and protect their community.

“We’re just looking for people who are interested in helping the community,” Hicks continued, “who are 18 years of age. No prior training is necessary; the department provides training and modern, up-to-date equipment to work on.”

Blanco EMS is looking for certified volunteers – EMT Basic, EMT Intermediate, and EMT Paramedic – whose training the organization will fully reimburse.

EMS is looking for volunteers to staff a second ambulance to support the increased call volume as first responders, EMS Director Mike West said.

How many volunteers are needed? “As many as I can get,” replied Hicks.

For more information, contact EMS Director Mike West at 830-833-5239 or Fire Chief David Hotz at 830-833-5009.
