Pecan Street Brewing Hits One Year
Wednesday, June 27, 2012 • Posted June 28, 2012

Pecan Street Brewing in Johnson City “hoppily” opened one year ago on June 25, 2011.   They brew their own beer on site and usually have a stable of 5-6 beers on tap at any one time.  Some local microbreweries have beers that are also featured, such as Blanco County’s beloved Real Ale Brewing, Austin’s South Austin Brewing, and, coming soon, from the newly opened Pedernales Brewing out of Fredericksburg.

Everyone can find a beer they enjoy from the light and easy Screw Loose Blonde to the hoppy Road Devil Red to the full bodied Judge and Jury Stout.  Pecan Street is a strong advocate of supporting the local economy so they also feature only local Texas wines and all their beef comes from Harvest House in Johnson City.

During the past year, they have sold wines from Texas Hills Vineyard, Becker Vineyards, Pedernales Cellars, William Chris Vineyards, Fall Creek Vineyards  and Westcave Cellars.

A brick pizza oven delivers a thin and crisp crust with a range of toppings from pesto to antipasto.  They also cook some of the best burgers around and have plated dinners with a choice of sides.  Everyone can find something to call their favorite.

This Saturday night, June 30, to celebrate their first anniversary party, Zydeco Blanco will be playing in the Dance Hall from 7pm to 10 pm.  If you haven’t danced to Zydeco Blanco, you just don’t know what you have been missing.  Door prizes will be given out all throughout the day on Saturday, so if you can’t make it at night for the celebration, come during the day and enjoy a refreshing drink and meal in the restaurant or in the beer garden.

Pecan Street welcomes families and has plenty of space for the kids to entertain themselves too. So, make plans now to join them in this first of many celebrations to come.
