Scouts Snore with Hippos
Wednesday, July 11, 2012 • Posted July 13, 2012

Scouts from Pack 497, including new Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, kept a date with hippos in a Roars and Snores Campout at the San Antonio Zoo. The Scouts and friends camped out in the hippo observation room and observed firsthand the hippos sleeping under water, and going for their morning run, under water. Zoo instructors, Denise and Brianna, taught a “hands-on” lesson on reptiles and guided a night tour of the Zoo. After a late night and a few hours SNORES, they awoke to ROARS of a resident lion. After breakfast they were free to wander the Zoo, feeding the Lory Parrots, and perusing the monkeys, rhinos, the reptile house and whatever might appeal to inquisitive minds. A special thanks to the leaders who accompanied the boys.
