Don’t You Know He Loves Us?
Wednesday, July 11, 2012 • Posted July 13, 2012

He created us. He gave us the world and dominion over it. He gave us herbs for healing and all good things to eat. He gave us His Word and His promises for keeping His Word. He gave us all good things. The people before us turned away from Him. He pled with them through the prophets to turn back to Him, time and time again.

He allowed Himself to be born of man in order that the rule He had made for sin could be paid through His death on the cross, and that through His shed blood, the sacrifice of His perfect human body, we can have a chance at eternal life with Him in His Kingdom. And, He has protected His Word throughout all this time, so each human being born into this world can hear His Word, believe it, and have a chance to receive Him into their heart to live, to be redeemed from the curse of Adam’s sin, and be saved from that curse. Jesus said how much more will our heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him.

Luke 11:9-13 “9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” He loved us first, and He’s there for us to know and love in return.

When you began a relationship (or fell in love), who made the first move? Most of the time one person woos the other, doing things to get their attention, or doing things to cause the other to fall for them, too. God has made the first move toward us, and He never gives up. Yes, back in the Old Testament He did tell some that He would turn His back on them and not hear them when they cried out due to their sins and worship of false gods. But since that day, Jesus has come and died for us, and when He left, He left us with His Holy Spirit. He paid the penalty for us, so if we repent (true repentance is turning from it and resolving to do it no more) and turn our hearts to God, seeking His dear Son, Jesus, He does hear us. His Word says, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16

We’re only righteous because of our faith in Christ Jesus, but if we do have faith in Christ Jesus, then He does hear our prayers. How can you not love a God who has done all this and more? In Proverbs 8:17 it is written “17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.” Jesus said “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:16-18

So, God loved the world so much that He gave us His Son, Jesus, so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. And, He loves those individually who love Him, and those who seek Him early shall find Him. Early: being early in life; early in day; early – before death. How much more shall our life be full of blessings if we were to seek Him early, as in young and youthful? Oh, that hindsight was foresight! But wait! We still have time. As long as there is breath in us, we have time to find Him- time to find Jesus the Christ!
