ARC Helps Wildfire Ravaged Communities

When wildfires roared through Texas communities last Labor Day, the American Red Cross was able to help survivors, but only because volunteers were trained and willing to assist their neighbors, like this couple, cleaning up their burned home in Bastrop. Wildfire season is on us, and hurricane season is about to peak, and trained volunteers are needed in case the next disaster is here. An free introductory session for new Red Cross volunteers and folks thinking about volunteering will be Saturday morning at 9 at the Blanco United Methodist Church. You’ll learn how the Red Cross responds to disasters, and what roles volunteers can choose to play in that response.
