Anniversary Celebrations
Wednesday, July 25, 2012 • Posted July 27, 2012

Seventy-five years ago on July 20, 1937, Hilda Weireck became the bride of Vernon Schmidt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonewall, Tx. On July 29, 1962, their daughter Doris became the wife of Roy Phipps at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanco Tx.

On July 14 a beautiful reception honoring both their 75th and 50th anniversaries was held at the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Lutheran in Blanco. The hall was decorated with white centerpieces and diamonds for the 75th and centerpieces of gold, yellow roses and violets for the 50th. Snacks, fruit salad, punch and coffee were served, along with a chocolate cake decorated with white roses, a white cake with yellow roses, a carrot cake made by Lucile Moore of Austin, Vernon’s sister, and a German chocolate cake made by Doris.

Honoring their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents were Roy and Doris Phipps and Chyrell and Robert Poenisch, also Brad, Kim, Craig, DeeAnn, Troy, Kary, Brandon, Dillon, Drew, Trent Phipps and Kristy Nowlin.

An overflow crowd of family and friends enjoyed lots of visiting and sharing memories during the afternoon. Out of town guests came from all over Texas, as far away as Dallas and as close as Johnson City.

It’s not often we can celebrate a 75th anniversary with a couple still living independently at home doing their own yard work, working in the woodshop, sewing, and insisting the washed clothes be hung on the line to dry.

What an honor and blessing the Lord has given us.
