High Spirits at Sky Vacation Bible School

Once again, we hit full capacity on the first day! Just over 90 children attended Sky VBS at Trinity Lutheran in Blanco where they learned that, “Everything is possible with God”(Mark 10:27). Seventy-six of these children were not members at Trinity. What a great community outreach. Fifteen scholarships were given and used for children who could not otherwise afford to attend. Everyone also went home with a free lunch each day provided by Trinity.

What does it take to make week of VBS work? There were over 75 volunteer adults and teens who spent four hours or more per day cleaning and preparing for the next day. Twenty-five of these volunteers were not members at Trinity. There were 17 Flight Crews with 5 kids each, plus the Treehouse (Nursery Crew of 8) kids. Each Flight Crew had one Leader and at least one assistant. There were 5 Stations (or activity centers). Each Station had one Station Leader and at least two, and as many as six assistants. Planning and purchasing our materials began last January. All of these people are an integral part of making a successful VBS. You are the face of Christ to the 76 students who are not members at Trinity. You are certainly the faithful servants in Jesus’ name.

A big “Thank You” to the Station Leaders. They spent countless hours preparing their stations for children to tour each day. This is the core of VBS. A huge thanks to the parents who loaned us their precious children for the week. We apologize for having to turn away some potential registrations. Our facilities limit the number of children we can serve. Please register early next year. The 2013 theme will be “Kingdom Rock,” where kids stand strong for God! See you in July 2013.
