GVTC Foundation Receives Largest Ever Outside Donation
Foundation selected for its track record of helping the community
Wednesday, August 8, 2012 • Posted August 10, 2012

A scholarship fund established in memory of a budding young journalist lives on through The GVTC Foundation. GVTC board of director, Arley Sueltenfuss, and his wife Betsy, recently donated $8,324 dollars to the Foundation. The Sueltenfuss donation is the largest amount ever given to the GVTC Foundation from a private contributor.

The money is from a scholarship fund established in honor of their eldest son, 26-year old Dean Sueltenfuss, who was killed by a drunk driver 18 years ago. Dean Sueltenfuss was a newspaper reporter and editor.

The Dean Sueltenfuss Journalism Scholarship awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a college- bound student from Boerne and Champion High Schools. After doing this for several years, the Sueltenfusses closed the scholarship and donated remaining funds to The GVTC Foundation.

“On behalf of the The GVTC Foundation board of directors, we are extremely grateful for this generous donation from the Sueltenfuss family,” GVTC Foundation board president, Paula White, said. “Part of our strategic plan is to grow donations from outside sources, so we can expand our giving to the community. The Sueltenfuss’ kind contribution will encourage other donors to do the same.”
