Blanco High School Junior Varsity Cheerleaders Spirit Up at Home Camp
Wednesday, August 15, 2012 • Posted August 16, 2012

The Blanco High School Junior Varsity Cheerleaders attended the National Cheerleader Association (NCA) Home Camp at the Blanco High School gym from June 25th through the 27th. The JV squad consists of Katherine Biggs, Breanna Collins, Lexee Jenkins, Jamie McClinton, Madison Kunkel, Maryn McMain, Bret Leigh Nance, and Vanessa Skillman. The squad had some great times and put in many hours of hard work, learning cheers, dances, stunts, and doing lots of conditioning.

They received superior ratings at the end of the camp in Sideline Chants and Cheers. The squad also received the Technical Excellence Award for the sharpness of their motions and the S.P.O.T. award, which recognizes their abilities in spotting and stunt technique. The team was given the Herkie Team Award by their instructor as well, recognizing their leadership, values, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

All members of the squad qualified and were invited to try out for 2012 All American Junior Varsity Cheerleaders. Of the seven girls who tried out, those chosen were Breanna Collins, Jamie McClinton, Madison Kunkel, and Bret Leigh Nance. These girls were invited to attend the 2012 Thanksgiving Day Parade in Houston. It is a great honor to be chosen as an All American.

We are very proud of our JV Squad and all the work they have already put in toward having a successful year at Blanco High School. Now that the summer is drawing to a close the Varsity and JV Cheerleaders are painting the signs that decorate our school and the run-throughs that help get the spirit up at football games. We are looking forward to a great school year in 2012-2013!
