Wednesday, August 29, 2012 • Posted August 31, 2012

In an expression of support for United States service members and their families, The Admiral Nimitz Foundation contributed $14,000 to Operation Military Embrace during a check presentation at Boot Ranch in historic Fredericksburg on Wednesday, Aug. 22. The donation represents ten percent of the total funds raised by the organization’s third annual Nimitz Foundation Golf Classic.

The Admiral Nimitz Foundation contribution will support Operation Military Embrace, a nonprofit organization based in San Antonio, in its mission to show appreciation for wounded military members and to raise public awareness of challenges faced by these soldiers and their families. The organization provides personal hands-on support for service members and educates the local community through public speaking engagements. Since its founding in 2007, Operation Military Embrace has supported 10,042 Veterans and their families.

In attendance were Operation Military Embrace Soldiers and families, Robert B. Phelps, Admiral Nimitz Foundation Vice Chairman; Jerry Reed, Operation Military Embrace President and Executive Director; and Emil Hale, PGA of America Professional and Director of Golf at Boot Ranch.

The Admiral Nimitz Foundation supports and operates the National Museum of the Pacific War, a property owned by the Texas Historical Commission. The National Museum of the Pacific War is the only museum in the nation dedicated entirely to the story of World War II in the Pacific. As part of the celebration, all guests and attending media are invited to a complimentary Museum tour following the presentation.
