The Blanco Youth Football League started the Fall 2012 season last weekend, with their Junior Varsity and Varsity teams facing the Lampasas Badgers.

The Junior Varsity team, led by Head Coach Jason LaRue, and Assistant Coaches Danny Webster, Derald LaRue, and George Burns, took to the field with excitement. Even though it was hot, the boys played hard and looked good.

While they were able to advance the ball several times and gained good yardage, the Panthers were unable to take it into the end zone.

Defensively, however, the boys held the Badgers to only two touchdowns and no extra points, with several quarterback takedowns and open field tackles.

In the end, Lampasas won, beating the Junior Varsity team 0-12. The Varsity team also faced Lampasas, closing out the first day of play, winning 25-0.

All four touchdowns were made by Justin Wardlow; Eddie Calzoncit gave the team an extra point on a field goal.

Excellent defense kept Lampasas from getting near the end zone, and an aggressive offense allowed for the lopsided score.

Coaches for the Varsity team include Head Coach Billy Wardlow and Assistant Coaches Tommy Mangold, Eddie Calzoncit, and Daniel Gonzalez.

The Freshman team will debut September 8 against Burnet in San Saba at 2pm, with JV following at 3pm and Varsity at 4:30pm.
