Blanco Soccer Opens with 140+ Kids Enrolled
Wednesday, September 12, 2012 • Posted September 13, 2012

The fourth year of Blanco Soccer got off to an exciting start on Saturday, September 8, with the beginning of our fall season. This year the Blanco Soccer League is bigger than ever – with over 140 kids enrolled. There are 18 teams of kids between the ages of 3 and 12, comprising seven U6 (up to the age of 6) teams, five U8 teams, four U10 teams, and two U12 teams. More than two dozen parents are volunteering as coaches, assistant coaches, referees, and “team Moms,” and many older kids – former soccer players themselves – are assisting as trainers, assistants, and referees.

There are big plans for the future of the Blanco Soccer League, including the establishment of a permanent soccer field. We are hoping to have our main practice and playing area at Yett Park. By having a permanent large area of our own, we will be able to have a UIL size field.

We are also fund-raising for other League improvements, including more and better equipment, storage facilities, and opportunities for professional training. A temporary website has been set up (blancosoccer.org) and a permanent one is being designed that we hope will be fully operational by late spring of 2013, so that next fall’s participants can sign up online.

We would like to thank Travis Davis, the founder of the League, for all of his hard work and tireless dedication. A special thanks goes out to Security State Bank for their ongoing generosity in allowing the league to utilize their land for our games.

Please come and see our games and support Blanco Soccer! Games are played at the field next to the Security State Bank & Trust (US 281 and Blanco Ave) on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, and all day Saturday. If you have questions or are interested in the league, either to help out or to make a donation, you can contact us through our website.
