For three quarters, the Blanco Panthers and the San Antonio Christian Lions Junior Varsity teams held each other in a scoreless defensive battle on Thursday, September 20. Dylan Bates, Levi Windham and Dru Ramirez made outstanding stops for the Panthers throughout the first half of the game. In the third quarter, the Panther offense began to move the ball with a good carry by Logan Dodd, Adrien Dominguez, and Chase Horton. Ross Edwards hauled in a 20-yard pass completion from quarterback Jordan Wagner, but the Lions held the Panthers again. Then, with 6:22 in the fourth quarter, Wagner scored on a 5 yard scamper. The Panthers added the 2-point conversion with a pass from Wagner to Logan Dodd. The Panthers defense stopped the Lions with tackles from Aaron Uballe, Joe Lopez, Terry Yarbrough, Keith DeOrmand, Jarred Mayfield, and Jack Morgan. The Lions also gave up two interceptions to the Panthers. Adrien Dominguez and Dru Ramirez each snagged a pass to stop the Lions’ drives. Dominguez then followed his interception play with a 50-yard run for a Blanco touchdown. Wagner hit Phil Alvarado in the endzone for the 2-point conversion. With Blanco leading 16-0, San Antonio Christian scored with a minute remaining in the game. The Panthers held on for the win 16-8.
