Folks, my husband and I were given an opportunity that is probably a once-in-a-lifetime thing - we were invited to an outdoor Texas wedding in the midst of thunderstorms this past Saturday and we took that opportunity, not solely based on the fact that the bride’s father opined a couple days into said storms that Saturday about 6:00 PM, the wedding having been scheduled for 7:00, the rain would pass, and there would be sunshine and, by golly, he was right! However, he failed to take into consideration that the rain might start again - which it did, leaving about half an hour for the water to be siphoned from around the wedding platform. Came time for the bride and her party to walk down the “aisle,” which they did, sloshing through the mud and looking pretty darn elegant in spite of it (thank goodness for boots), the ceremony took place, Kymber and Seth got hitched, and then the party started! Since I’m too old to stay out too late, we visited with lots of our friends and neighbors and headed home. If making the best of what could have been a total disaster is any indication of a lasting relationship, they are in it for the long haul! Again, congratulations to the newlyweds (and all their respective extended families)!

Much as I hate to say it (and I really don’t hate it too much), I am hoping that my team beats the heck out of UT this weekend! We will be in the nosebleed seats, but we will be on the WVU side (my spouse having been kind enough to buy the tickets for me as an early birthday present) and I have a new WVU sweatshirt to wear. I will be waving to all the UT people I know on the other side! All’s fair in love and sports!

Many, many congratulations to Charles and Rachelle on the birth of their new baby boy, Khalen Gunnar Willgren. He is one cute baby, and I can’t wait to take my turn at holding him. It’s baby month at the newspaper office - Julia’s next in line!

Get out and enjoy the wonderful weather!

Belated happy birthday to Pat Vallone! They had a surprise birthday party for her Sunday at the Masonic Lodge. It was bittersweet since Tommy wasn’t there to share it this year, but a good time was had by all!
