Wake Up Blanco County, the Sky is Falling
Wednesday, October 17, 2012 • Posted October 19, 2012

In the story of “Chicken Little,” the main character, Henny Penny, is hit on the head by an acorn and races about town telling the public “the sky is falling.” Deceptive advertising, whether about soap products or soap box opinions, serves no purpose and does the society in general a disservice. If I pay for space in the paper do I have the right to say anything regardless of whether it is true or not? I should think not. Or is advertising so important to the paper that anyone can publish anything? For the last Presidential Election, a column ran each week presenting the Democratic and Republican stance on various issues. Written by each of the county chairmen, it was informative and based on facts from reliable sources. Perhaps before publishing any advertisement from anyone saying “The Sky is Falling” you should do some fact checking. But, if that is not possible, Lucy Goosey, Turkey Lurkey, and the other voters in Blanco County should remember that the moral of this old fable is to not believe everything you are told (or read in the paper).
