Lights Spectacular 5K Returns
Wednesday, November 21, 2012 • Posted November 23, 2012

The Lights Spectacular 5K, hosted by First Christian Church of Johnson City, returns this Saturday.

Last year, over 140 racers participated in the third annual Lights Spectacular 5K. Afterwards, racers and their families enjoyed the lights and festivities of Lights Spectacular. Local businesses, restaurants, and charity booths benefitted from the increased number of visitors the race brought to Johnson City.

This year’s run will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at 3:00 pm during the Lights Spectacular opening weekend. 100% of the net proceeds from the run will be used to supplement the ministries of First Christian Church.

We are excited about this event and pleased that it has become an annual 5K. The race will begin at the crossroads of Avenue F and Ladybird Lane. The course will follow Avenue F south for one and a half miles and then runners will turn and run back to the starting point. The road will be blocked during the race.

First, second, and third place medals will be awarded for each age group and there will also be a drawing for door prizes.

Registration forms are available for anyone interested in participating in the run. Email Dawn at or go to our website at, click on the Lights Spectacular Register link, and register online. You can also register the day of the event.

If you have any questions, contact Lori or Walter Hudson at (830) 868-9131 and leave a message or Dawn Capra at (512) 577-4833 or email.
