On November 10, 2012 at the Northwest Marriott Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, Ron Houston was posthumously inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame honors those who have made significant and notable and extraordinary contributions to the radio industry in Texas.
Ron’s career spanned more than 40 years at various radio stations in the San Antonio area including KTSA, KEXL, KBUC, KFAN, and KENS AM. In addition to being a premier disc jockey, he had an unparalleled voice and recorded hundreds of radio and television voiceovers and narrations for numerous clients, including the San Antonio Spurs, Church’s Chicken, Super S Foods, Kens TV, Bluebonnet Motors, Southwest Research, USAA, KLRN, and many others.
Ron served as a volunteer fireman with the Blanco County Fire Department and was a member of the Blanco EMS for more than 18 years. He was President of the Blanco Humane Society for more than 20 years. He was elected to the Blanco City Council in 2000 and served as Mayor Pro Tem until his death in 2009. He proudly called Blanco his home for more than 30 years.
