January 10, 1969

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Phipps of San Antonio are the proud parents of an 8 pound, 4 ounce baby boy, Craig Howard, born at Nix Hospital on January 2, 1969.

Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. T.M. Phipps and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Schmidt of Blanco.

Engagement announced

January 11, 1989

Mr. and Mrs. Vernon E. “Bill” Gregory announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their granddaughter, Stacy Sewell of Irving, Texas, and Mark Smith also of Irving.

Stacy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Sewell of Austin.

The marriage will be February 4, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Free Chili Supper

January 10, 1969

In recognition of the support by the whole world community for the numerous fund raising projects the St. Ferdinand Men’s Club wishes to invite everybody to join them in a free chili supper at the Parish Hall on Sunday, January 12.

Supper will be served from 5 to 8 p.m.

Engels welcome baby girl

I’m here! Alyssa Emily Engel greeted this big, beautiful world at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 1989, weighing in at 6 pounds, 14 ounces and 19 ¾ inches long at Seton Hospital, Austin, Texas.

My proud parents are Weldon and Penny Engel of Austin, Texas. My paternal “Grammi” and “Granpa” are Jan and Verne Engel of Blanco, Texas.

My maternal; “Nanny” and “Pa” are Betty and Jerry Gallaway of San Antonio, Texas.

We’re all delighted and doing well.

Plan February 26 Wedding

George Roy Willis and Sarah Sue Gray wish to announce their upcoming marriage, February 26, at 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon at “The Little Church of Villita,” San Antonio, Texas.

A reception will be held following the ceremony at the Lake of the Hills Clubhouse.

Senior Citizens See Christmas Lights

January 10, 1969

Christmas is such a happy, joyous time for all us, yet there are some who are lonely and sad.

In order to make Christmas a happy time for those in the local nursing homes, the Young Homemakers took those who were able out for a ride Friday night after Christmas so they could enjoy the Christmas decorations and lights too.

Blanco bandsmen play at Bandera

January 12, 1979

On Saturday, Music Region XI will have their Regional Band Concert performed at 7 at Bandera High School.

Blanco has seven band members performing in the concert. They and their instruments are: Beth Berger and Sharron Coffee on clarinet; Janice Flugrath, Bruce Granberg and Trina Shipp on trumpet, Holly Waxler on French horn and Rich Weirich on Trombone.
