Wednesday, January 14, 2009 • Posted January 13, 2009

Johnson City, TX - Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park plans to hold two open houses to discuss the planning effort underway to update the 1999 park general management plan. The meetings will be held on January 27, 2009 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the LBJ State Park in the dining hall and on January 29, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the park events visitor center in Johnson City.

The open house format will allow the public to share ideas with the planning team and to ask questions about the planning process. This update of the existing plan will tier off of the existing plan and cover possible changes to the transportation system and associated infrastructure, use of the Klein Shop and Hangar, and the advisability of restoration of the Sam Ealy Johnson House to its earlier appearance. Bicycle access to the ranch will also be included.

An environmental assessment describing any effects of the plan on the environment will be incorporated into the general management plan.
