Have you figured out the reason for your existence yet? Have you figured out why God has allowed you to live on this earth? Has He brought you through a very difficult time, or a very serious disease or injury, and given you another chance to live a good life?
Have you ever felt like your life is not very ‘enjoyable’? Do you look forward to another 20 years or are you fearful because it doesn't look like it's getting better?
Do you ask ‘why am I here’? Well, I do. I ask those things and yes, I've listened to Rick Warren's series entitled "Purpose Driven Life".
I know we were created by God, in His image and likeness, to worship Him and praise Him, for His glory and purpose.
I worship God, but we also have to exist amongst people who don’t, and Jesus said “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” John 15:19
You may not agree with me, but will you agree perhaps, that one purpose of our existence is to pray for one another?
If I were in heaven, who would be down here praying for my children and their children?
The bible says “Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Psalm 103:20
Definition for hark: listen; used mostly in the imperative.
So we need to speak God's Word so angels will help us and our loved ones.
Jesus said “So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 9:38
I think I have read that we are supposed to pray for Israel.
Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Ephesians 6: “18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”
Matthew 5:44 – “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;”
We’re supposed to pray for our country. Imagine, if we prayed for people, how much better our world would be.
God gives us life, grows us up, and takes life.
I asked myself, and I ask you: If God took you and I out now, we’d be happy in paradise (or at least I would be), no longer enduring hardships on this earth, but since we’re here, what can we do?
It is written if two of you agree, in harmony, God will give us what we pray for.
It is written that the prayers of a righteous man availeth much. Are you righteous?
Righteous means that we believe in Jesus Christ as the risen Lord, Son of God.
Don't stand on the streets or synagogues repeating prayers sounding so eloquent, but pray in the privacy of your home, where only God is listening to you. And, find one person who is also righteous, to pray with you, and agree what you're going to pray for first, then ask God together, on one accord.
It's serious business. It's not hocus pocus, and it's not mind bending stuff, it's just a serious discussion with God, which is what a prayer actually is. Yes, you can take someone else's prayer, and if the shoe fits, wear it, but Jesus said speak to God using Jesus' name, and He will hear us. He does hear us. Believe me, He answers my prayers, and who am I? A mist, a vapor, a flower quickly fading. If He answers me, He'll answer YOU, too!
2 Chronicles 6:21 - "May you hear the humble and earnest requests from me and your people Israel when we pray toward this place. Yes, hear us from heaven where you live, and when you hear, forgive."
2 Kings 20:5 - "Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD."
