The BYFL’s JV Gold team took on the Dripping Springs P team Saturday in Dripping Springs. With both teams holding a 3-1 record it looked to be a great match-up. Blanco would receive the ball and march downfield with ease, with Ryan Ronces leading the way with 7 carries for 40 yards. Ronces would score on a 6 yard run, with the extra point attempt good on a run by Aikman Elrod, the Panthers would go on top 7-0. On the ensuing series Ty Gathright and John Hodge would stuff the Tigers, and on fourth down Trent Dechert would recover a fumble, putting the Panthers at first and goal. The Tiger defense stiffened, and Blanco was unable to score. The second quarter would find the Tigers driving, but Justin Williams would make a great solo tackle downfield preventing a Tiger score. The Panther offense was able to drive to the 2 yard line for first and goal, but time expired and the half ended with Blanco on top 7-0. In the second half the Tigers would receive the ball, and on the second play the Tiger QB would score on a 65 yard run up the middle. With the conversion good, the score was tied at 7-7. The Panthers would then go to the air, with Colton Elrod going 60 yards down to the Tiger 20. Blanco would drive inside the 10 for first and goal, but again were unable to convert. The Tigers took over, but the defense came up big again and stuffed every attempt. Blanco would again take over with first and goal, and again were unable to score. In the fourth quarter the defense continued to shine, giving Blanco the ball at the 30 yard line. On fourth down Aikman Elrod would score the winning TD on a 22 yard run, but the conversion attempt failed, leaving the Panthers up 13-7. Aaron Uballe, Trent Dechert, and Tyler Lyons would make key tackles preventing the Tigers from driving on their final attempt. Overall the Panther offensive line of Ross Edwards, Ryan Bible, Tray Hodge, Gus Martinez, and Ty Royce would command the Tigers allowing Blanco to control most of the game. Ryan Ronces would finish the game with 10 carries for 70 yards, showing the offensive line dominance. The JV Gold improved to 4-1, and needs one more victory to solidify a spot in the playoffs.
