Elaine “Laney” Kuhlmann

Mrs. Calvin “Slim” Kuhlmann, nee Elaine “Laney” Schuman, of Fredericksburg passed away on Sunday January 27, 2013, at her home at the age of 65 years.

Laney was born January 2, 1948 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Rudy and Gertrude Eckert Schumann.

Laney married Calvin “Slim” Kuhlmann on January 28, 1967 at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg.

Laney was in the banking business for 44 years, having worked with Fredericksburg National Bank through the present Chase Bank and HCSB.

Laney is survived by her husband: Calvin “Slim” Kuhlmann of Fredericksburg; son and spouse Kevin and Melinda Kuhlmann of Liberty Hill, two grandchildren: Kyle and Paige Kuhlmann; brother, sister and spouses: Marlin and Sherrie Schumann of Albert, Carolyn and Nelson Jonas of San Antonio; sisters-in-law Johnnie Mae Schumann of Blanco and Mary Schumann of Fredericksburg. Laney was preceded in death by her parents.

Her body will lie in state in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home until 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday January 30 and from 9 to 10:00 a.m. in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, with funeral services at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Bobby Vitek officiating.

Graveside services and interment will follow in the Kuhlmann Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Hospice, Holy Ghost Building Fund, Pancreatic Cancer Research, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Visitation for Laney Kuhlmann will be held on Tuesday January 29th from 5 to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 7 to 8:15 a.m. in the Schaetter Funeral Home.
