Softball Starts Season With Two Wins

Panther softball started the season with 2 wins, defeating the Canyon Lake Hawks, 14 – 3 on Tuesday, February 19 and downing the Llano Yellowjackets, 10 – 5 on Friday, February 22.

Against the Hawks, batting 1000, with 2 hits, 2 walks and a “hit by pitch,” Leslie McClinton blasted into softball season with back-to-back homeruns. In the first inning, Leslie hit the ball deep in right field to the fence scoring the homerun on a slide at home plate. In the 2nd inning, Leslie smashed the ball high over the centerfield fence for her second homerun. Kelsey Schwind hit two singles and Meaghen Seales added a single. Callie Culton and Meaghen pitched for Blanco.

In Llano, Callie Culton slammed a homerun with 2 RBI. Payton Savarino batted 1000 with 2 singles and 2 walks. Taylor Guinn and Jamie McClinton hit singles to go 1of 2. Leslie McClinton nailed a single and a double. Kelsey hit 2 doubles. Playing 2nd base, Taylor Guinn started a double play scooping up a grounder, tossing the ball to Leslie on 2nd base who then fired the ball to Kelsey at first for the 2nd out. Callie and Meaghen pitched for Blanco.

The Panthers play Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2 at home in the 9th Annual Blanco Panther Softball Tournament.
