Panther Baseball Named TMI Tournament Champs

The Panther varsity baseball team played in the Texas Military Institute tournament on Friday, February 23. Blanco defeated 5 teams to claim the tournament championship. The Panthers first victim was San Antonio FEAST. Chad Marshall pitched a no-hitter and had 3 hits in the 10 – 0 win. Skylar Itz also had 3 hits. Next, Blanco defeated Comfort, 7 – 4. Layne Lassberg was the winning pitcher. Kyle Gray and Chase Glowka each had 2 hits. The Panthers then beat San Antonio Cole, 7 – 3. Kyle Gray was the winning pitcher and had 2 hits.

On Saturday, Blanco clipped Harper, 5 – 1. Kyle Sauceda was the winning pitcher for the Panthers. T J Hardin knocked in 2 runs. Layne Lassberg threw 3 scoreless innings.

Clashing with the tournament host, TMI, in the championship game, Blanco won 5 – 4. James Leachman pitched for the win. Itz knocked in 2 runs.

The Panthers travel to Johnson City for more tournament action Thursday, February 28 through Saturday, March 2.
