American Cancer Society Relay for Life Celebrate – Remember – Fight Back
Wednesday, January 16, 2008 • Posted January 15, 2008

Blanco County Relay for Life will be Saturday April 19th, in Johnson City. The motto this year is Celebrate – Remember – Fight Back; and that is exactly what we do!

We CELEBRATE by honoring cancer survivors with a meal, t-shirt, and walking of the opening survivor lap of Relay.

We REMEMBER by having a luminaria ceremony in which a candle is lit to remember those who have lost their battle to cancer and to honor those who are still fighting.

We FIGHT BACK by having teams raise money to donate to the American Cancer Society to fund research, education, advocacy and service.

Relay is a fun filled family event. Blanco County needs teams to volunteer to help raise money for the cure – please volunteer – together we can make a difference.

Your team can consist of family, friends, church groups, civic organizations, co-workers, or anyone you can bring together to help fight for the cure.

If you or someone you know would like to be a team captain or team member please go to http://events.cancer.org/rflblancocotx and register or call Peggy Berryhill at 830-833-5851 for more information.

If you are a cancer survivor and would like to participate in our activities please call Trish Hartmann at 830-833-1431.

If you would like to purchase a luminaria in memory or in honor of someone please contact Laura Jenschke at 830-868-7630.

It is Relay For Life time again in Blanco County! The committee is going strong and Team Captains are beginning their fundraising!

Dust off your bowling ball and pull those bowling shoes from the back of the closet and come have some fun and help Hunting For a Cure with their first fundraiser for the year. They are having a bowling tournament at the Blanco Bowling Alley on Saturday, January 19th at 3:00 p.m. There is a $10.00 donation per person to bowl. They are trying to limit it to 6 teams with 6 members on each team! Let's all go by the Blanco Bowling Alley and sign up and help them to reach their goal to help find a cure for cancer!
