On April 13th, eight members of the "Blanco Quilters on the Square" traveled to the Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange, Tx. The Museum opened in 2011 and showcases both historically significant and contemporary quilts. The museum exhibits change 2-3 times a year, and the current exhibit theme is "Flower Power".
In addition to the Museum, the ladies enjoyed visiting the "Grandmother's Garden" just outside of the Museum where many of the flowers were in full bloom. The road trip also included stops at quilt stores in Dripping Springs, La Grange, Buda and New Braunfels. It was a fun day as they admired quilts on display in the stores, checked out the latest fabric lines, shared quilting ideas, and bought fabric to add to their quilting stash!
This was the first excursion for the group, having just recently organized and already has a membership of 25. The group meets the 2nd Saturday of every month at 9 a.m. in the ballroom at Uptown Blanco Arts & Entertainment, Ltd., 317 Main Street. In addition to sharing quilting tips and tricks, activities include a Block Of the Month (BOM), a Mystery Quilt Project, guest workshop instructors, and additional trips will be planned. Anyone who is interested in the art of quilting, from novices to experts, are invited to attend.
