We had our volunteer luncheon this month to thank all of the wonderful people that make this library so friendly. Without all of the people that help and give their time, this library could not provide such wonderful service 6 days a week. Here is a poem that our lovely volunteer Sally Wall wrote for the occasion:

The Library

By Sally Wall

The library’s a wonderful place you can go,

To learn many things you never did know.

For computer help, tax help, art classes and such,

Our little Blanco Library offers so much!

There are computers and videos and books galore,

Plus puzzles and games. Could you want any more?

There are programs for kids and adults to attend

And who knows, you just might meet an old friend.

With both love and time, the librarians give all they can,

From Sandra to Linda to Dorothy and Jan.

Our newest is Crystal, so young and so sweet,

And for our birthdays, she makes us a treat.

The volunteers are priceless, or so I’ve been told.

They’re worth more than money, silver, or gold.

The Woman’s Club helped with the library start.

And friends and local businesses all had a part.

So, from humble beginnings it began to grow.

And who knows just how far it may go.

So, if you live in the area, or just passing thru,

Please stop at our library for a visit or two.

We are looking for volunteers for Friday afternoon, so if you are interested please stopby the library and pick up an application.

Be sure to not miss our Friends of the Blanco Library’s annual Dinner and a Movie! Sibby of Onion Creek Kitchens is crafting a wonderful “New American Cuisine” to go with our movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Pick up your $20 tickets for this May 3rd night out on the town at the Blanco Library or at Liz’s On the Square. These dinner seats will fill up fast so be sure to buy your tickets early! On the Friday evening of the event, we will dine at 6:00pm at the Old Blanco County Courthouse and then retire to the library at 8:00pm for our movie showing. Remember, this is a BYOB event, so bring your partner, friends, or your lovely moms for an early Mother’s Day gift!

As always, remember to check our website at or call us at 830-833-4280 for more information.
