Wednesday, May 29, 2013 • Posted May 29, 2013

The Zonta Club of Fredericksburg received a record number of scholarship applications for the 2013 scholarships to be given by the Club. Chairman Karleen Carlisle and her committee had the monumental task of selecting ten recipients out of the forty three qualified applications they received.

A special Scholarship Awards Banquet was held on May 21, 2013 at the Golden Hub Senior Center to honor the ten young ladies in all levels of learning from around the Hill Country area and their families.

Three young ladies were selected from Blanco High School. Megan Nabers, Class of 2007, is a graduate of Texas State University in Micro Biology, working towards becoming an MD at UTMB.

Destiny Hicks is a 2013 graduate who plans to attend San Antonio College for two years and then the University of Texas to become a Medical Perfusionist.

Annie Albrecht is a 2013 graduate who plans to attend the University of Texas. Her goal is a degree in International Relation

The Zonta Club of Fredericksburg is proud of these young ladies and look forward to helping them achieve their life goals and dreams.

The Club gratefully acknowledges the numerous anonymous donations made to its Scholarship Fund. Those donations, together with the Club’s fund raising activities, enabled the Club to award ten scholarships of $1,000 each this year.
