Wednesday, June 5, 2013 • Posted June 6, 2013

Blanco’s UIL Academic Team finised eigth at the state competition held May 20 and 21 in Austin.

“I think that placing so well as a team at the state meet shows the relative academic strength of Blanco High School,” said UIL coordinator Russell Kirkscey.

Kristin Watt, who placed second in Informative Speaking, said, “Competing in the state meet was an incredible experience! [...] The hard work I put in prior to the competition, as well as the great help and support from my amazing coach, secured my place among the top speakers in the state.”

Kirkscey added, “We had great leadership this year from our seniors. But we have a lot of great students who should be just as competitive next year.”
