Want some weekend projects that could be quick and give your home a facelift? We all like a little change now and then. And there are a few things you might be able to do in a couple days that can give your home that slight change you have been wanting. Check out a few of these things.
Starting with the outside, how about a fresh coat of paint? If you don’t have to scrap the old you might be able to achieve this in a weekend or maybe just a bit longer. You might want to just change the color of the trim work or paint that front door. Power washing the house or washing the windows always gives the clean feeling. Building a small deck on the front or back of your house for just sitting and a rocking or having a family or friend bar-b-que.
On the inside, lots more to tackle here. Do you want a closet remodel? Some Crown molding or accents? Fresh coat of paint in the den? New tile floor in the guest bath? Yes, these can normally be done in a weekend.
Starting with the closet, are you going to build shelves, or add a closet system? If you are adding a closet system, there are companies that can come measure, design, and install for you. If you are changing out rods and building shelves, just make sure you get the measurements correct before you start the cutting and hamming. You might want a nice coat of paint on those shelves too.
So you want to add some crown molding in the family room. There are numerous styles to select from. Just make sure you take measurements and allow for any corner cuts. It helps to have the right equipment, so ask the store when you go to buy the materials. There are some cool accent pieces if you decide to add these around the windows with your wood. There are some types of accents and wood pieces that are even already painted white if that will help.
Changing the old square vinyl tiles in the guest bath to ceramic tiles can be a bit more of a challenge. You will need to buy additional cutting tools for the ceramic tile. You might want to read up on installing too. If you have baseboards, you will need to remove these or possible even replace. Don’t forget to remove the old material. So many people just install on top and you really do not want to do that.
These are just a few tips to sprucing up your home. There are many more ideas, depending on what you want to do. Remember, if you are selling your home, you want to go with a conservative approach. Wild and bright colors just don’t work. If you feel you can’t do this yourself, call a contractor!
