Library Prepares Space for New Books
Wednesday, August 7, 2013 • Posted August 8, 2013

Announcing a new feature in the library: Last Chance Shelf! Due to the need for more space for new items, we are weeding our collection of items that have not been read in a while or are falling apart. Materials up for consideration for deletion will be placed on the Last Chance Shelf for one month before they are decommissioned. Stop by to check out this shelf and see if there is an old treasure you want to read again. Anything read during the month will be returned to the collection for regular circulation. If you find an item that you think the library should keep, you are welcome to fill out a reconsideration form. Please keep in mind we add about 50 new items a month to our collection so we are unable to house all of the old favorites.

Photo Contest Time! We are making our 2014 Blanco Calendar and we want your pictures! Submit your pictures of what you think makes Blanco unique or a moment in time that you have captured in our wonderful Hill Country city or surrounding areas. Please find and print a media release form from our website and send it along with your entry, or pick up a form in our library for our records. All submissions are due August 31st and email them to Please make sure the pictures can be at least 8.625" by 11.125" at a resolution of 240 dpi.

It has now been one month since we started our new catalog system and installing the new furniture funded by the Tocker Foundation. We would like to know what you think of these new amenities. Let us know today by taking the survey posted on our website or filling out a survey in our library.

Collecting prizes for the Summer Reading Program has been extended. Our supplies will determine how long children have to finish their reading logs!

As always, remember to check our website at or call us at 830-833-4280 for more information.
