This year’s annual Uptown Blanco Quilt Show opens at noon on Friday, October 11 and runs through Sunday, October 13. Quilter’s from the state of Texas will have their quilts on display in the judged and non-judged categories. The show features two internationally renowned quilters, Louisa Smith of Loveland, Colorado and Ellen Anne Eddy of Porter, Indiana. Both are published authors, teach throughout the country, and are on the 2014 schedule to teach in the new Uptown Blanco Textile Studio.
Ellen’s exhibit will feature a series of 35 works, large and small and will be a grand display. Louisa’s exhibit will feature many quilts from her books. Both Ellen and Louisa have placed extensively in national quilt shows.
The show encompasses the entire Uptown Blanco Arts & Entertainment, Ltd. complex, and Old Blanco County Courthouse. In addition to the quilts, there will be vendors from as far away as Florida featuring yards upon yards of fabric, the newest quilting notions and tools, handwoven wearables, handmade wooden sewing furniture, and that much more. Quilt guilds from Austin, Marble Falls, Johnson City and Blanco will have raffle quilts and country stores set-up, and the Blanco High School Art Department will be selling handmade items to benefit the art department.
Show hours are: Friday, October 11, noon to 7 pm, Saturday, October 12, 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, October 13, noon to 4 pm.
