Following worship services and lunch on Sunday, October 6th, Blanco Cowboy Church hosted the 1st Annual Archery Tournament.
Archery clinics were held during July, August and Sept. ending with the tournament scheduled to be held in the Church Arena. However, due to the much needed rainfall received the night before, it was necessary to move the tournament to the church grounds.
Pastor Darrell Ayres and his son, Seth Ayres, conducted the clinics and tournament. The different age groups competed for awards by the point system as well as competed for Best Costume. Each contestant was presented with a metal of honor placed around their necks by the instructor, Pastor Darrell Ayres, who dressed as Robin Hood for the tournament. Other awards were then presented to high point winners being special caps and T-shirts. Judges selected Seth Ayres to receive the special trophy for the Best Costume. Surprise cash awards were then presented as a special gift by member, Glen Rust, Sr., to the top three overall high point contestants.
Everyone agreed that the Second Annual Archery tournament be scheduled for next year as everyone had such a great time learning about archery during the clinics and enjoying fellowship during the tournament.
Pastor Ayres closed the day with prayer and special appreciation for everyone who worked so hard to make the tournament such a Blessing.
Psalm 127:3-5.. "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord. The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like ARROWS in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his QUIVER full of them; They shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate."
