So many times, people get tired of looking at what they are living in. However, they don’t know what to do. Here are some simple ideas that won’t cost you a ton of money.

Crown molding can be a really nice touch. It’s not that hard to install either. Numerous patterns to select from. You can buy it in a raw state or already painted white. Other forms of material verses wood are Styrofoam and plastic crown. You will need a miter saw for the wood. The Styrofoam and plastic can be cut with a regular pair of scissors or a razor blade. Crown molding can be used at the wall and ceiling area, around windows, and doors. I’ve even seen it used to make a fake picture frame.

Paint can always spruce things up. You can just paint one wall in a room for an accent, or change all your room colors. Painting the inside or outside of your home, always gives you a new look on your home. Want a really different look? Paint a mural on a wall. Of course it helps to be an artist to do the mural or have a friend that is an artist.

Kids rooms have so many options in changing them. As always, paint is good. Borders can add a new touch. Borders come in sports, animals, flowers, and so much more. It’s fun to let your kids help with picking out the designs. Fatheads are now a big thing for the walls. Nothing like a life size hockey or gootball favorite player on the wall. Take some wood, build a fake fence on one wall, and add a hand painted tree and some animals. The imagination can really keep going on this one.

Kitchens and bathrooms get a bit more expensive in changes. If you are looking for a big change, changing counter tops is the most common. Whether you decide on granite, laminate, wood, concrete, or some other material you might want to compare costs and see which material you prefer. Will you be changing sinks, plumbing fixtures, and lighting? Again, are your most expensive areas when you get into a remodel. Call a contractor for some additional options.

Decking can always be a plus. Here again, these can get expensive. Sometimes just a small deck would be perfect. You might want to screen in that back porch. The wood might just need to be cleaned and resealed. Any of these options will give it a new or fresh look.

Cabinets can be painted to change a look. Try looking into faux painting. There are so many additional techniques to design painting. Mixing stains can be something to try. Even something as simple as just changing the hardware on your cabinets and drawers can change the look.

Just a few things that come to mind to help give your place a new look. If you need assistance, no worries, just call a contractor or a designer they can give you some options.
