Blanco Graduates Carry on in College Marching Bands
Wednesday, October 23, 2013 • Posted October 24, 2013

Class of 2013 graduates, Echoe Burkhart and Alina Aly, are proud members of the Texas State Bobcat Marching Band. Alina (cymbal line) and Echoe (trombone) were the recipients of the 2013 John Philip Sousa Award as Seniors and have taken the skills and discipline gained during their tenure in The Blanco Panther Marching Band on to their endeavors at Texas State University. The Sousa Award recognizes those young musicians displaying superior musicianship, leadership, dependability, loyalty, cooperation, and other qualities of conduct which school instrumental music programs strive to impart. The two shared the award last spring in a rare tie only available to schools every four years. Other Blanco alums participating in college band programs are Lane Hoelting (Blinn), Rebecca Dowlearn (Southwestern), and Samantha Primeaux (Cornell). These are just a few of Blanco’s finest who are carrying on the strong band tradition from Blanco.
