The Blanco Junior Varsity football team rumbled over the Jarrell Cougars 50-0 on Thursday, October 17. Jarrell kicked off to Blanco to begin the game. Kailen Webster returned the kickoff 25 yards to the Jarrell 45 line. Chase Horton picked up 5 yards on the ground, with Aaron Uballe adding 6 yards. Webster ran for 3 and then caught a pass from Jordan Wagner for a 12 yard gain. Uballe grounded out 3 yards with Horton scampering for 11 more to the 5 yard line. Uballe plowed through the line to score the touchdown for the Panthers. Uballe again got the call on the successful 2 point conversion run. Blanco took an 8-0 lead with 6:53 remaining in the 1st quarter. After Justin Requenes kicked off for Blanco, the Jarrell ball carrier was tackled by Jake Mangold for no gain at the Jarrell 19 yard line. Jared Mayfield broke up the Cougar pass attempt on the next play. Then on the the next play, Joe Lopez burst into the Jarrell backfield to interfere with a handoff causing a fumble. Gus Martinez made the recovery for Blanco. The Panthers took possession of the ball on their own 15 yard line. With 6:32 remaining in the 1st quarter, only 21 seconds after Blanco’s first touchdown, Horton charged into the endzone for the 2nd Blanco touchdown. Uballe scored the 2 point conversion. Blanco led 16-0.
After the Blanco kick off, the Cougar offense took over at their own 20 yard line. John Cross Caldwell, Wes Eskew, and Webster made tackles for Blanco. The Cougars turned over possession on downs at the Jarrell 33 yard line. Horton dashed 17 yards to the 16 yard line. Uballe, Webster, and Wagner combined yardage on carries to move the ball to the 1 yard line where Horton punched it in for the score. Webster added the 2 point conversion. At 2:49 in the 1st quarter, the Panthers led 24-0.
On the Blanco kickoff, Garrett Seales, Steven Flores, and Webster stopped the Jarrell ball carrier on the Jarrell 25. Lopez and Eskew made tackles with Mayfield again breaking up a pass play. The Cougars were forced to punt. The Panthers offense took over on the Jarrell 32. Horton, Uballe, and Wagner combined rushes to move the ball downfield. Wagner hit Uballe for an 8 yard gain and then connected with Webster for a 12 yard touchdown pass.
The 2 point conversion failed. The Panthers led 30-0 with 7:04 in the 2nd quarter. After the Blanco kick off, the Panthers defense held the Cougars with tackles by Mangold, Eskew, Lopez, Webster, Horton, and James Rodrigues. Mayfield knocked down another pass. The Panthers took over on the 19 after holding on the 4th down. Horton scored a touchdown on a 19 yard run. Wagner found Requenes in the endzone for the 2 point conversion. Blanco led 38-0 with 1:24 in the 2nd quarter. After the next Blanco kickoff, Webster intercepted the Cougar pass at the 50 and bolted for the endzone to add 6 points. The PAT was no good. Blanco led 44-0 at the half.
After the half, Blanco scored another TD on a 1 yard run by Uballe that was set up by a 33 yard pass play from Wagner to Requenes. The PAT was no good. Blanco led 50-0 at 5:46 in the 3rd quarter. The remainder of the game was a defensive battle with tackles made by Noah Wheeler, Joshua Kotzer, Uballe, Seales, Rodriguez, Caldwell, Eskew, Flores, Kendall Hartmann, Hayden Hunt, Jacob Robinson, and Trent Pruitt. The Panthers held on to their shut out 50-0.
