Tots Need Toys joyfully made Christmas 2013 a little brighter for seventy-seven children from thirty-four families in the southern half of Blanco County. Members of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, New Hope Lutheran Church, and Blanco United Methodist Church provided the gifts for the children. Anonymous donors from the community as well as the churches provided some monetary donations that were used to purchase socks and underwear. The parents met by appointment at the Blanco United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 7, to wrap the gifts for their family. They were assisted by members of Blanco United Methodist and others from the community.
Applications for assistance for Christmas 2013 went out the middle of October and were to be returned by November 4. To receive assistance the child has to reside within the Blanco Independent School District boundaries and live with the parent/guardian making the application. The parents were asked to list four items each child would like to receive, and Tots Need Toys goal was to provide two of the items from those suggestions. With the participation of the three churches that goal was easily met.
Tots Need Toys program will operate in the same manner for Christmas 2014. Applications will be available the second week in October.
