Laughter From The Second Act Troupe
Wednesday, February 4, 2009 • Posted February 3, 2009

The Second Act Troupe returns for its third production in Blanco with two performances Saturday February 7 at 7.30 pm and Sunday February 8 at 2.30 pm.

This will be an all comedy show with lots of laughs - just the antidote for our present difficult times. Following her successful appearances in the Company’s last production Blanco actress Maggie Goodman is once more featured.

The first half of the show features the ladies of the Company in a series of comic excerpts from “Hat Tricks” by Dori Appel. Ellen Massey gets into big difficulties giving a public speech using three pairs of glasses because she can’t use her trifocals. In a restaurant, Diane Hruska and Kate Conroy salivate over desserts provided by Beverly Galante and recall dream fantasies. Ellen Massey and Maggie Goodman are a pair of bag ladies who fight over items they find in the trash. Maggie Goodman also plays the owner of a junk yard who buys a vicious guard dog to protect her and her property, with some very unexpected results.

The second half features the one act play “Admit One” by Elyse Nass in which a feisty 75 year old Harold Conklin (Allan Eastwood) interviews the much younger spinster, Megan Matthews (Carla Daws), who is responding to the ad he has placed in the personals looking for a wife. They discover they have almost nothing in common except for the loneliness in their lives but can they still find friendship and possibly romance?

Blanco performances will again be at the Learning Center theatre of the Blanco School District at 814 11th Street (opposite the elementary school).

Reservations can be made anytime by calling (512) 618-3355. The $12 tickets will also be on sale at the Chamber Office on the square from 9 am to 1 pm February 2 to 6.
