Panthers Keep On Winning

The road trip to Ingram was a good one for the Panthers on Wednesday, January 29 for games delayed one day due to icy road condition on Tuesday. The Blanco girls basketball team ran away with a 68-50 win over the Warriors and the boys basketball team came back from a halftime deficit for a 59-48 victory.

Jamie McClinton led the Lady Panthers firing in 18 points. Charlsey Smith and Meaghen Seales each scored 13. Lexee Jenkins sank 11 points with Abbie Culton and Payton Savarino each making 5. Reagan Rogers scored 3 points.

In the boys game Kyle Sauceda took it to the hoops scoring 24 points, Brett Champion made 15 points, with Dave Ramirez adding 8. Jacob McCaslin and Carlin Green each scored 6 points. The Panthers grabbed 42 rebounds to the Warriors 30. Sauceda made 13 rebounds with Green bringing down 10. Champion grabbed 8 rebounds.

The Junior Varsity lost by only one point, 36-37. Andrea Calzoncit paced the team scoring 12 points, with Victoria Moya adding 7. Kaleigh Griffin made 6 and Katlinn Calzoncit scored 4, Gracie Edmonson, Brenna Wallace, and Christyn Champion each sank 2 points, with Hannah Hulbert adding 1.

The Freshman JV boys team also lost a close game, 34-38. James Rodriguez led the team with 12 points, followed closely by Hugo Rodriguez with 11. Garrett Seales scored 4, with Jonathon Campbell, Jacob Robinson, and Jeremy Kindla each made 2 points. Joaquin Olmedo added 1 point.

The JV boys posted a big win over the Warriors, 63-38. John Cross Caldwell fired in 19 points with Julio Alegria scoring 13. Robbie Arlitt and Dawson Albin sank 9 each, while Noah Wheeler made 6. Dylan Tesch scored 5, with Ross Edwards adding 2.

The Lady Panthers currently lead the district with a 7-0 record. Tuesday after press time they took on Lago Vista, with a 6-1 district record. Johnson City holds a 3-4 record with Ingram at 2-6. Comfort is 0-7 in district.

The Blanco boys have a 5-0 record, with Comfort standing at 4-1. Ingram holds a 3-3 record, followed by Lago VIsta at 2-4. Johnson City is 0-6 in district play.

The Panther boys teams battle Comfort at home on Friday, February 7. Come support the Panthers at their final home game of the season.
