Blanco Cowboy Church Celebrates Nine Year Anniversary
Wednesday, February 4, 2009 • Posted February 3, 2009

On Sunday, February 1, 2009, the family of Blanco Cowboy Church celebrated their nine year anniversary. It turned out to be a very exciting day with unexpected events. As the sun rose in the east shining off the freshly tilled dirt arena and the roping steers grazing on their round bale of coastal hay, pickups and trailers began coming down the dusty road with their precious cargo of cowboys, cowgirls, horses and pots of good home-cooked vittles ready for the celebration.

As horses were unloaded and tied to trailers, teenagers raced to attend their 9:00am "Round Pen" Sunday School Class while their parents rushed to attend Pastor Frank Spillman's Discipleship Sunday School Class. As others ambled in, they gathered around the huge coffee pot visiting and enoying delicious fresh-cooked cinnamon rolls and donuts.

At 10:00am the Krause Family Country Gospel Team grabbed their guitars and opened the worship service with a rousing rendition of "Blanco Cowboy Church". A brief history was shared of how God gave His Vision for the Church to a cowgirl many years ago and how God is manifesting His Vision through His people and ministering His Word and His Agape (unconditional) Love to the wounded warriors of the western world.

Children's Church then began with a full-house of children under the ministry of Donna Kramer.

Following communion service, Pastor Frank Spillman preached the Word of God from Romans 5:29 teaching how to walk in the Blessings of God and to step out in faith and carry out the plans that God has for each of our lives. Right in the middle of his message, SUDDENLY, a car came driving down the church road at a high rate of speed, careened off the road and drove through the front yard screeching to a halt at the front door of the Church. A man jumped out of his car and jerked the front door of the church open yelling..."FIRE...there is a big pasture fire headed right for your Church." As people jumped to their feet and some ran out the door, Pastor Spillman yelled..."STOP....let's pray." The Church family stopped and joined him in prayer and then 911 was called. Three fire trucks had already responded and the fire which had started on Highway 281 was quickly extinquished by the brave firemen. Pastor Spillman called everyone back to their seats and continued his sermon and thanked God for His protection and His Blessings which are ever abundant.

A delicious lunch of BBQ chicken and brisket and all the trimmings along with a bountiful table full of homemade desserts were enjoyed by everyone with lots of fellowship and visiting. For the remainder of the afternoon all the young and old cowboys and cowgirls enjoyed visiting or riding their horses or enjoyed roping steers in the arena. In the late afternoon everyone joyfully loaded up empty pots and pans, horses, and children and agreed with Psalm 26:8...."Lord, we Love the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your Glory dwells" (AMP).
