I’m sure a couple readers may be thinking, “Gee, she’s been publishing God’s Word for how long? And she doesn’t know what salvation is?” Right? Well, I know what I’ve read and heard preached to me, and what most people believe, but, I believe there’s more depth to it, from what I’ve read in God’s Word, and it’s a very serious topic. One not to be taken lightly. And I hear the term salvation used somewhat flippantly, because we’re trying to reach people who’ve never read God’s Word. And I’ve heard people say “Hey man, all you have to do is tell God you’re sorry for sinning, get baptized, say with your mouth that you believe in Jesus as God’s Son, and believe in your heart that He’s your Saviour, and you’ll go to heaven.” So people do that and never go back to church again. They don’t read God’s Word for themselves, or hear it preached, other than perhaps on TV. And because they don’t read it themselves, they are susceptible to being misled, because they don’t have the discernment of God’s Holy Spirit within them. Why? Because they don’t have the Word planted in their heart for the Holy Spirit to bring it up.
Jesus said “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26
He can’t bring it to your remembrance unless He has “said unto you.” He says unto us when we hear it preached or read it ourselves. God’s Word is “seed” (see below) and God is the grower, and the Holy Spirit imparts God’s wisdom.
Luke 8:11 “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.”
And yes, Paul did say in Romans 10:8-13 “8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
But that was Paul speaking, and I do believe what he said was divinely inspired, but I believe what Jesus said more than I believe what Paul said. In other words, the words Jesus said trump Paul’s! It has to, because He said His Word is spirit and life! And He’s the Son of God, the second person in the Holy Trinity, so His Word trumps.
What do you think about that? Do you know enough about it? I’ve been reading my King James Version of God’s Word for nigh on 17 years now, at least, and I’m telling you, we truly need to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.
In John 11:26 Jesus said: “And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
In Mark 9:23 He said: “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” (this one is important, ‘cause it shows us what we believe is important!)
And in Mark 16:16 He said this: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
We have the famous Scripture of John 3:16, where the apostle John said “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
And Jesus said also in John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
And then there is John 6:47 where Jesus said “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”
And Jesus said also “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” John 12:46
And we have “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” John 14:12
I pray I never say or publish anything that causes someone to stumble or not believe in Jesus Christ, or God Almighty, or the Holy Spirit.
I believe every word Jesus spoke, and everything in God’s Word. I love God’s Word and am so very grateful we have it today. In fact, that’s why I print. It’s so good!
Jesus said “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63
So I believe what Jesus says. And I believe there is much more to be gleaned and learned in God’s Word, regarding our salvation, and it really does appear to me that a person could lose it. And that’s why I am studying, and sharing what I learn, and not interpreting, because I'm not qualified. I’m merely sharing God’s Word, and you let your heart through the Holy Spirit, if He dwells in you, show you the Truth, because He is the Teacher. That’s what is written in 1 John 2:27 “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointingteacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” But that’s only if ye have received Him; Jesus the Christ!
Jesus said in Luke 12:11-13 “11 And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: 12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.”
Now, having shared the words of Jesus, and how powerful our faith and belief in Him is for our salvation, can I point out a few Scriptures that may compel you to not take your faith for granted, so to speak, but to safeguard it, so it’s not lost?
I mean, “even the devil believes and trembles!” (James 2:19) But he can't get in, 'cause He’s already been kicked out!
Last week I published Luke 13:24-30 (you may want to read the chapter yourself) and in verse 23 a man asked Jesus a direct question. His reply was not a parable. It was a direct answer to the man’s question, and I quote in part “27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. 28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.”
That appears to me that some may get there and be thrown out. How can you be “thrust out” of something you are not in?! You’d have to be in to be thrust out! Right?
Another scary thought is at the great white throne judgment, where, if your name is not in the book of life, well, read this: “15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelations 20:15
Let us hope and pray that our names are written in the book of life, amen? Is yours written in there? Do you know how to tell if your name is in there? Let me give you a hint: JESUS! He is the LIFE and Light of the world.
Our salvation and our names written in the book of life is something we need to be very sure of. Better talk to your pastors. Better read God’s Word. Better “study to show yourself approved.”
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
