Research shows that children who participate in high-quality PreK programs typically enter school more ready to learn than their peers. High quality means a PreK program that has a number of characteristics including effective teacher-student ratios, teachers with college degrees who are certified in early childhood education, and curriculum that includes learning colors, numbers, letters and reading preparation. Choosing to send a child to preschool could be the first step in ensuring his or her academic success later.
